Cu4tro Cantos

The Four Songs of Life

Cu4tro Cantos is the new Ala Eh Blog. Since I cannot provide pure Batangueño articles, I decided a revamp of the site, which I think is more appropriate. Cu4tro Cantos refers to the four members of the Cantos Family. In spanish, Cuatro means Four, and Cantos means Songs.

CEL in Manila 2008

There’s an upcoming event this weekend called Consumer Electronic Live in Manila 2008. The event will cast major electronic brands such as Sony, Canon and HP and more and more.

This is gonna be one of the most awaited days for electronistas and gadget enthusiasts, maybe for me, my wife and kids. It’s Sam’s birthday on Saturday and we’re celebrating it just around the venue where CEL Manila will be. We might just be there since where already there. And there will be prizes to raffle on too, so it might just gonna be our lucky day as well.

More details of the event is posted on Yugatech.

Mirrors 2008 - Kiefer Sutherland

When your in the mood for having some shocking moment, I would not recommend this movie, however, in case you want to scare yourself while in the bathroom, this could help. This is a great movie with a nice twist.

Benjamin Carson [Kiefer Sutherland] was a retired cop, broke, while separated from his wife and kids. He lives with in his sisters house while trying to get back on his feet. He took a job as a watchman for an abandoned department store in New York, since the pension he receives is not enough. He had no idea that there’s a mystery happening in the building, nor have any idea he’s tasked to uncover some more.

While doing a round inside the building one night, he saw signs of what’s actually happened during the time the building was burning. He heared loud voices crying for help. He knew he’s being played by the mirrors, but somehow, as a helpful citizen, he chose to lend a help.

He never minds the creeps he could have in that building. While he knew there’s somebody needing his help, he was much willing to help, but he never knew he was tasked to do it… by the mirrors.

There was a girl named Anna Esseker. Her records tell she was a patient once in a hospital residing in the abandoned building. The doctors did not believe her when she said she’s not sick but possessed. Instead, the doctors put her in a room with mirrors around her, thinking Anna will learn how to fight his sickness. But worse came to worst, the demons possessing Anna were trapped in to the mirrors. Anna’s not sick anymore nor possessed, but the mirrors need her. Anna is the only way for Ben to escape his task.

Ben finds Anna, and Anna does not want to get back to where she was once. She knows the consequences but for the sake of Ben, her wife and kids, she agreed to help. The demons escaped the mirrors and possessed Anna once again. Ben had to kill Anna and there’s no other choice.

Everything went fine after, except that Ben now lives inside the mirror world.

Final Twilight Movie Trailer

“That’s it!?” - This is the exact sentence that came out of my wife’s mouth when I boastfully showed off (yeah, it’s repeatedly redundant :P) the old Twilight Movie trailer to her. She was very excited to see it but seems a bit disappointed in the end because the trailer is not too good. Though it really tells there was something more…

So if you, like my wife, are disappointed with the old trailer, don’t cry no more, wipe your tears because there’s a newer trailer on the official site. It says it’s the final trailer, so let’s not hope for more, and if there comes another version, let’s get surprised then.

By the way, I bought a copy of the first installation of book, “Twilight”, and in less than a week, my wife is done reading it. I tried to break her record but I’m still on page 15 until now. It’s been 3 weeks.

Here’s the link to the trailer. After I watched this trailer, I got so excited to see full movie, an if you’re excited to see the movie like us (err. me), see you in theaters then.

No Good Title

I don’t know what to say, but China seems to be so careless already, after all the controversies we heard about the products imported from them.

We heard about the high toxin containment on children toys before. Then the recent melamine contamination on several food products. And now, the most recent was the virus on the Eee Box shipped to Japan. I’m not counting in the ZTE scandal.

And of course, I’m not including the mobile phone clones, pmp clones and all gadget clones because we love it as long as they are not dangerous to health.

Now help me think of the best non-offensive-title for this post. :)

How to Install WMD Editor Plugin on Wordpress

Our dearest WordPress extraordinaire Jaypee discussed about the WMD Editor last week over at his blog, which is a rather cool comment plugin for WordPress that gives visitors the ability to put style on their comments plus they can easily create hyperlinks, list, blockquotes, etc… The plugin is very light at 32kb which you can download from here. And basically, what it does is it turn your comment < textarea> element to an editor.

As you may notice, WMD Plugin is not a regular plugin that you activate from the Plugins page of your WordPress. It only contains javascripts, and the first time I saw the files, I already knew they only have to be called somewhere on your page to activate it. But if you’re still confused, let me help you get around with it by listing the steps I take.

  • Download the plugin.
  • Extract the .zip file.
  • Upload the “wmd” folder to your host. (since it’s still a plugin, I recommend placing it under plugins folder)
  • Insert the following code somewhere within your page. In my case I placed it inside my single.php, right after the comment.php is called. I just thought it’s safer there. < script type="text/javascript" src="/wmd.js”>
  • Check your comments page and see if it works.

And of course, I still recommend reading the readme.txt as you might learn something more about the plugin.

If you have any further questions, just leave ‘em on the comment section.
