A Journey to Tagaytay
Sometimes, things happen when it’s unplanned. Though, it’s more probably won’t be as successful as planned. -mrniceash
I’d say, it was a strange day. While we normally go somewhere during weekends to have lunch, today is somehow too different. We only usually hang out on some fastfood and restaurant inside malls where there usually is huge crowd and loud noise that you almost can’t hear what your mate is saying and you have to shout when you speak so you can be heard.
It was unplanned. We stayed over time in the office last night to finish some urgent tasks, and to escape from rush hour traffic, we spent some more hours at Greenbelt and had some finger-food for dinner. (Nanbantei). While we were having our food, “Tagaytay” unintentionally came along our conversation and ‘jokingly’ thought of going there. In short “we came home really late and only Bel was taking care of our two lovely daughters”.
This morning, it was late (10 AM), I was still in bed and my wife was waking me up telling me “Honey, I thought we are going to Tagaytay?” My eyes were still too tight, I know I am already awake but just can’t open them. I pulled myself up and my eyes started to respond. Yes honey, we are going to Tagaytay. Our little daughter (Ley) asked for milk so my wife fed her. They were lying in bed and when I cheked, they were both asleep. I let them sleep for a while and I started to prepare the car.
Along The Road
It was 12 noon and the sun was falling on the car roof. Of all the things I can forget, why the car aircon? It gave up last week when we’re caught on traffic along EDSA where all the vehicles can’t shift to other gears than the first. I should have brought the car to the nearby shop but I totally forgot. Then, there’s nothing we can do but to drive ahead and take all the heat we have to take.
It has still been a fun, easy, and safe road trip. It was not as hot as we thought because the air was somehow cold and thanks to that very long stretch of clouds just above us. We hit a very long and easy road without a little sweat. While we were so happy of the clouds, Honey got the camera off the bag and started to speak in front of it like we are documenting our trip, describing all the things we see, and telling all who-will-watch-it where we are in time. We also talked about that long stretch of clouds that God sent us to comfort our trip, just to notice that Honey missed to press the record button. She thought she already did and she called it “play button”. And the time she pressed the right button, the battery ran out. That was the funniest part of the trip.
Our first stop, as part of the journey, was at a gasoline station to load up proper tire pressure. We did not have the gas refilled yet because it was getting hotter while the car was not moving. We drove ahead few kilometers more and reach our destination. The second stop.
Having Lunch
Our second stop was at a restaurant, which Honey personally suggested, and I say, it was a very nice place to have lunch to. She had not been in that place before as well. She only sees it everytime we go to Batangas and she thought it was nice. It was indeed. It’s not too classy, it’s more of a picnic site for me, it’s not the neatest place, but it’s the best among the places I’ve been to.
This particular scenario made our lunch the strangest. We oversee a very nice view of the Taal Volcano, we feel the freshest air in the world, it was silent most of the times. The place was just along the highway but I only seldomly heard a vehicle pass by. And we were seated just beside a very deep ravine.
I am not afraid of heights, I learned to fight it when I was a kid. But to some, this place could make them feel nausea.
Wrong Way
After having our lunch, we headed to our main destination which is the Tagaytay Zoo. We were sure that Sam will enjoy it. We were so sure that we will enjoy it as well. We were also sure that it’s gonna be the best trip ever. What we were unsure of is where that zoo is. We drove ahead and along a little bumpy road, I noticed that the door on my side was not properly closed. So I closed it properly and continued driving. We knew it was not too far from where we had lunch and we already missed it. When we reached the Nasugbu boundary, we knew it’s time to go back. So back we drove and when we finally saw the place, I realized that it was where I properly closed the door. Whew!
The girls were asleep soundly, so we just decided to drive back home and planned of going there some other time.
