A Son misses his Dad
I’ve mentioned before, my Dad flew to NY to work. That brought a mixture of excitement, happiness, sadness and thankfulness for the opportunity among the family. He’s been there for 5 months now, and I heard that he really feels lonely. I even heard from my mom that he wants to come back already. So I called him for some moral advice.
I was worried a little bit by his stories. He said that his masters do not treat him as good as before. He said that he gets yelled at most of the times even though he’s done nothing. I know my Dad, he’s a nice guy, down to earth, humorous. He also told me that his master once told him this, “If you want to leave, just let me know”, and he doesn’t even know why his master will say that? His suspicion, it is because his masters are very disappointed to the other guy, who they expect to come back, but rather stayed in the Philippines. And their disappointment is being redirected to him.
What made him feel disregarded even more, is when he knew that there are other guys being trained as drivers, and he’s gonna take care of the mini horses at the farm for long. He signed his contract as a driver, you know, and he’s not getting the salary stated on the contract. But he said to me, it’s not important. He’s satisfied on the salary he is receiving and what he only need is fair treatment. That’s all.
I felt even more sad when he told me that he thinks he’s going crazy. He said that most of the times he’s alone and he talks to himself, answers his own questions. What I can only do that time is listen and feel his sadness. I know he really miss us, he sounded like he’s going to cry. He said that as long as he can hold on, he’ll stay and work in NY. And I promised that I will call him regularly so we can have little ‘how are you’ talk. And I believe it’s effective, I am noticing it. I hope that someday, his masters will treat him good again.
Dad, I miss you. And I miss Mom too and all of them. I am asking God to keep on watching over you, I know he does. I love you very much.
