Binibining Pilipinas is a Beauty Contest
Wow. I can’t believe it. At first I just read about it and thought the transcript was just modified. But hey, I heard and watched it and it’s true. It was her. Our Miss World this year is not someone to be proud of. I wonder how will she react when she saw the recorded video. It’s a “beauty contest” after all.
To Janina, you really had confidence and true faith in yourself.
To the judges, here’s a question for you… What was the role you played on the contest? and what is the role you are playing for the Philippines?

Paolo: Janina, how are you?
Janina: I’m fine.
Paolo: Alright, so you won two of the major awards – Best in Long Gown, Best in Swimsuit, do you feel any pressure right now?
Janina: No, I don’t feel any pressure right now.
Paolo: Confident! Alright! Please choose a name of the judge.
Paolo: We have Miss Vivienne Tan.
Vivienne Tan: Good Evening.
Janina: Good Evening.
Vivienne Tan: The question is, what role did your family play to you as candidate to Binibining Pilinas?
Janina: Well, my family’s role for me is so important b’coz there was the wa- they’re, they was the one who’s… very… Hahahaha… Oh I’m so sorry, Ahhmm… My pamily… My family… Oh my god… I’m… Ok, I’m so sorry… I… I told you that I’m so confident… Eto, Ahhmm, Wait… Hahahaha, Ahmmm, Sorry guys because this was really my first pageant ever b’coz I’m only 17 years old and ahahaha I, I did not expect that I came from, I came from one of the top 10. Hmmm, so… but I said that my family is the most important persons in my life. Thank you.

honey, let us not be harsh on her. This also goes for the Binibining Pilipinas – Ms. International, let’s give this 2 ladies a break.
Instead of whining about it, let’s us all try to absorb, what lesson we can learn from this. I am going to write an entry about this.

I was eating dinner while I was watching the video on YouTube. I almost choked when I heard her answer. I was laughing and felt bad for her at the same time.
I know we shouldn’t judge her but its sad to know that with that kind of answer, she was still able to win as Bb Pilipinas World 2008. Unless of course, the other candidates were not any better. She should’ve just spoke in Tagalog if she wasn’t comfortable with English.
Some contestants in international beauty pageants speak in their native language during Q&A and use an interpreter, why not do the same? English doesn’t make the answer good but the logic and sense behind it.
