We are sometimes caught in the middle in this battle of simplicity and extravagance. (well, not really extravagance but something to that effect)Need versus want. There were a few times when we have found ourselves buying things, and later, thinking over if we really need it.

I remember the movie Fun with Dick and Jane (starring Jim Carrey and Tea Leone) whenever I get this Need VS Want sentiment. The movie is about Dick and Jane, a married couple who have always dreamed of a better life. Dick and Jane were jealous of their neighbors. The neighbor had a better car, had a beautiful bed of designer grass, had a swimming pool, and the neighbor had a better job. They were just jealous. So when Dick was setup to be promoted his company’s new lead, this is where their trouble starts. The excitement of the promotion, of a higher income, of the jealousy urged them to buy stuff they don’t really need and doing things they really have to do.

One tradition that we still never fail to practice during the holiday season is gift-giving. There’s the Kris Kringle; you give gifts that fall within a particular theme for your baby. Some popular gift themes are ‘something hard’, ‘something long’, or both: ‘something hard and long’. There is the thrill of wondering who your baby really is.

There is also the Exchanging of gifts, you buy something within a fixed budget and get to exchange it with someone else. Sometimes, you have to buy Unisex gifts to be safe and to make sure that your gift will be enjoyed by a guy or a girl.

The “other” Christmas feeling

The Christmas season is just around the around the corner, and I am already excited. But comes with the excitement is also this very exhausting feeling. I already started my Christmas shopping but I doubt that I’ll get everything on my list. Not with the overtime work at the office and a household to run.

Another problem would be the Christmas dinner, when I was still single and living with my family, there was really no worry about Christmas dinners. We prepare the usual Hamon-Keso de Bola-Fruit Salad ensemble for Noche Buena. But now that I am married and have my own family, I’d very much like to re-invent our Noche Buena feast. So, as early as now, I am browsing through cookbooks and the internet for recipes that I can try for Christmas.

A month ago ‘yesterday’, my wife gave birth to Ley. But I thought it was only yesterday. Time’s really passing by so fast. Tomorrow’s another month again.

With the past 31 days, Ley has experience a lot in this world already. In her second week she suffered from pneumonia and we’re thankful it never lasted long. Ley’s very healthy now and strong. She gained weight and grew few a inches. Before, she cries almost all day and night, seems like she feels uncomfortable all the time. But she’s more at ease now. She enjoys looking at things around her when she’s awake and just lying in her crib. You can never see her like that before. Many improvements happened to her in just a month. Thank God for fulfilling our hearts.

Now what? Get the cake and share it to the readers, honey. Ooops, you said I forgot to greet Ley, but I really did not. You think I did? Please. Maybe this post is a bit late… What do we have for next month? Oh, it’s Sam’s birthday. I’ll greet her now. Happy Birthday Sam.
