This is my entry to WikiPilipinas and FilipinaImages Writing Project: “Filipina Stories”. WikiPilipinas, the Philippine Encyclopedia will unveil a special portal, The Encyclopedia of Philippine Women which will feature achievements of Filipinas all over the world. Let us all support this great project.

Have you noticed how we like to compare the people we know to popular fictional characters? This is particularly true when we talk about Filipinas.

A common fictional character we use to describe a modern Filipina is the popular DC Comics heroine, Superwoman - because the Filipina is no longer ‘just the housewife’; she has taken not only the role of a house-maker; she’s also the husband’s equally able partner in providing the family’s bare necessities and shaping a better future for them.

1 kg. ground pork
1 medium onion, chopped
1 cup of pimientos in can or 2 medium red bell peppers, chopped
1 cup of pickles, chopped
1 cup of chorizo de Bilbao, chopped
1 cup of raisins
1 ½ cup of bread crumbs
2 whole eggs
2 tbsps of soy sauce
½ tspn iodized salt and pepper to taste

We Filipinas have achieved a lot the past year. A lot of Filipinas have started blogging and we are damn proud of it. 2007 also gave birth to the FilipinaImages project, this project aims to re-launch how people around the world look at Filipinas, we Filipinas are not about mail-order brides or online-porn stuff. We Filipinas are powerful women, we are loving mothers, we are sexy and smart, nature-loving, adventurous… the list of wonderful attributes is never-ending.
Also this year, Dine’s blog won 2nd place in the Influential Emerging Blog of 2007
And just recently, there’s Charice Pempengco making waves not only in South East Asia but in the US as well. These are just some of the good things that happened this year. Let us pray of more good things to come this 2008.

How I met my husband.  Last time I shared with you my prayer for the Man of my Life. I prayed this every night. Now, I’ll tell you how I met him.  October 2003, after months of job hunting, I finally landed my dream job; (I also prayed for this job). or shall I say the Job, it’s actually the job that I prayed for. Hey! Come to think of it, when I got the job, I got my man as well.  He and I were part of the same start group. And the rest as they say, is history.
