The Four Songs of Life

Cu4tro Cantos is the new Ala Eh Blog. Since I cannot provide pure Batangueño articles, I decided a revamp of the site, which I think is more appropriate. Cu4tro Cantos refers to the four members of the Cantos Family. In spanish, Cuatro means Four, and Cantos means Songs.

Wi-Fi @ Coffee Bean is not FREE

As part of my FREE Wi-Fi expedition, I brought my Asus Eee PC at The Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf Alabang Town Center. I got a 100% signal from outside the cafe, I can connect successfully to the network but cannot browse the internet. We went inside and bought 2 cups of Ice Blended coffee and we learned that Wi-Fi usage costs 100 Php per hour.

So all-in-all, you’re gonna spend at least 200 Php if you want to go online. Good thing, 3G signal is strong. So I don’t need to rent.

How to install bluetooth on Asus Eee PC

After countless nights and days of figuring out what’s going wrong with my Asus Eee PC, bluetooth dongle, and 3G phone, I have finally set it up successfully. Thanks to all the forums I’ve gone through. I know they all do not have complete and step by step configuration details but they are my only and primary source.

I’m gonna list all the issues I had to let you see if you also have gone through them.

  1. Bluetooth functions well but cannot connect to phone (wrong passkey)
  2. Asus Eee PC detects the phone but the phone cannot see the Asus Eee PC (pairing issue)
Can't connect RFCOMM socket: Connection refused
  3. Pairing was successful but wvdial says Modem not responding.
  4. a lot more, can’t name them all, builds from one another.

Now here’s the simpiest steps on “how to install / configure bluetooth modem phone with Asus Eee PC”.

Requirements:

  • bluetooth dongle
  • bluetooth utility (i used bluez-utilz) here’s the steps i followed
  • rfcomm, hcid, (i think these come with bluez-utils)
  • wvdial
  • root access
  • i don’t think I forgot something here…

How to blog from you Nokia 6120 Classic

Nokia 6120 Classic mobile phone is the smallest Smart Phone from Nokia. And it has a lot of potentials I have not discovered yet. Apart from it’s sleek design that I really love, I also like it’s interactivity. Very user friendly to use.

The best feature I liked about it is it’s reasonably fast 3G connectivity. I can use it as a modem or use it itself to browse your blogs and create entries for this blog. Read More

N6120 3G connected on Asus Eee PC

Just claimed my new phone from Smart. I already incurred 18 months on plan 800 and they said I’m already eligible to extend my account for another 2 years. Smart service is not as bad as Sun Cellular so I am extending my plan. And upgraded to plan 1200. I’m actually averaging 1500 monthly.

Comes with a new plan is a new Nokia 6120 Classic. It’s actually the most beautiful phone I ever had. Thouggh, I am not into design. The phone is 3G capable and can be used as modem. So I get it.

Installing 3G connection on Asus Eee Pc using Nokia 6120 is just as simple as the previous settings for LG and Sony Ericsson. Most specially if you follow the GUI Way. The only difference: since I already have a previous dial up connection which is dialup1, I have to edit dialup2 for the new connection. And don’t forrget! When you connect your N6120 to your Asus Eee, there will appear 3 options on your phone. Choose PC Suite. Very easy. And here I am! Connected!

I use 3G @ home, Free Wi-Fi when outside. When @ office, I use LAN. :D
