I Landed at the Same Place. Childhood Chronicles Part I

I did not plan to have a long leave for the holy week. It’s just that there’s no one to take care of Baby Sam so I’ve been 10 days out-of-the-office. Cool.

With those 10 days, I just spent 2 days & 1 night in Batangas. But I’m still out-of-the-office, so I didn’t care at all.

When we came to Batangas, I heard that my 2 childhood friends are also  there. They both stay in Pasig now but it’s been years that we 3 have been together. I went to my friend’s house since I knew they were there, taking vitamins (having drinking session) under the mango tree, around 1PM. They have a portable DVD, with some other friends. I look around the place and nothing much has changed after so many years.

During my childhood, we were always together in school, after school, during weekends, almost 365 days/year. Name every adventures you know and 99%, we also had those.

  • We went mountain climbing.
  • We’ve been ‘lagalags’.
  • We’ve stolen some crops from someone’s farm. :)
  • We’ve swam to the deepest part of the sea a child like us can (without lifevest). And then back to the shore and do it again until we got tired.
  • We’ve been to the farthest ‘barrios’ in the province just to collect bottle crowns.
  • We’ve been to many forests just to search for fighter spiders.
  • We’ve been to the farthest house that has ABS-CBN channel just to watch ‘Sine sa Dos’ during afternoons and try to imitate what we just saw. I remember we watched ‘Kambal Tuko’ (Richard and Raymond Guttierez) and after watching, we tied ourselves together and stumble down the hill. Though we were hurt a little bit, we still laughed and laughed until we all peed on our pants. :)

There’s still a lot of funny childhood memories with them. But I just dont know how to describe them.

Batangueño Words
