My first Bridal Fair:The 4th Philippine Wedding Congress

Since last April when Aldrin and I decided to have our church wedding next year, I’ve been browsing the internet for wedding tips, themes and whatnot. I also have been searching for Bridal fairs that we can attend to meet wedding suppliers and get ideas on the latest wedding trends.

Today we went to Megamall to check out The 4th Philippine Wedding Congress. It’s my first bridal fair and I never thought it could be so Fun! Just as soon as we entered the hall, we were greeted with a free photo shoot at the FotoLoco booth. We gamely posed for our free photocard. Aldrin instantly decided that the photo booth should be our ultimate wedding souvenir, hmmm… we’ll see. ;)

We strolled around and we saw the wedding gown creations of Edward Teng on display, I fell in love with them. :(

So on we went to the 2 presentations that we signed up to attend, 1 was by Eve & Co about Floral and Events Styling and the other 1 was by Konsepto about new Trends in Wedding Souvenirs.

Here are some excerpts:
On choosing/screening your wedding supplier, ask these questions: (from Simply Creative Wedding Flowers 2008)

  • What is your design philosophy?
  • Are you willing to work within my budget?
  • Who will create my floral designs?
  • How many weddings will you do on the same day as my wedding?
  • Do you have extra items you’ll provide or rent out?
  • Will you spend time at the site setting up and making sure everything is in order?
  • Can you guarantee time of delivery?
  • Is delivery free?

These are just some of the questions you can ask. Do not be afraid to ask, be involved.

On new trends in wedding souvenirs, you can choose from the items represented by the acronym SOUVENIR:

S - Scents (cologne, lotion, scented candles, soap, etc in personalized containers)
O - Ornamental (bag/curtain charms, bracelets, accessories)
U – Useful (personalized photo holders, frames, vases, etc)
V – Versatile (menu holders that double as photo or note holders)
E – Edible (Cupcakes, mini cakes, chocolates in boxes, nuts, etc)
N – Natural (Go natural with mini plants, lucky bamboo in pots)
I – Instant (like the FotoLoco photo booth, prints your photos in an instant! less than 10 seconds)
R – Reflects your self (if you love cooking: salt and pepper shakers, for beach lovers – shell ornaments).

After the presentations, we went to 2 Wedding Invitation booths, Print Divas and Paper Flair. I wanted to close the deal with Print Divas already, I have in mind a design of theirs that I think best fit my and Aldrin’s personalities simple yet fun and jolly. Anyway, I decided to still look around, and I got to the Paper Flair booth, they specialize in invitations with Caricatures. They are so cute, o well, I’ll just check their catalogs on line.

We also got to see sample table settings by Josiah’s Catering but we didn’t get the chance to sample their sumptuous food because their mock banquet setup were full of couples and other guests. O well, maybe some other time.

Alas, it is time for us to go home. I definitely enjoyed the 4th Wedding Congress and I will surely watch out for future events.

Till then, I hope you will follow our journey to our BIG DAY next year!

PS. Tomorrow we will be going to our Parish Church here in Salitran and also to the main Parish of “Bayan ng Dasmarinas”.
