Obama is the new POTUS
Some of us might be expecting Obama to win the US election, and some might expect McCain. But judgment day has come the United States of America now has their first Black American President.
Remember this quote from Obama:
“It’s been a long time coming, but tonight… change has come to America,”
Congratulations Obama. Congratulations America.
On a side note, I am so impressed of how US election process goes. The candidates do not have to gain high votes from the people, as long as they win most number of America states/Electoral Votes. I don’t know every details but it’s pretty much how it goes.
What impressed me more are the candidates, showing true sportsmanship, and accept their loss. This happens regularly, that before the election ends, and the losing candidate feels he’s really losing, he concedes right away and gives support and praise to the winning opponent. What a great character a politician must have!
I can’t help comparing it though with the election process in the Philippines. In the Philippines, counting of votes takes months before the winner is declared. And what’s even worse is that losing parties cannot accept the fact that they lose. Instead, some reappeals for a recount. And some declares they were cheated. Crap! And the worst? Don’t even get me started. Just take the “Hello Garci” as example.
POTUS = President Of The United States
